Martin is a film director with a strong focus on visual
storytelling. Across formats, his work blends narrative
and visual approaches with a consistent attention to
composition and tone.
He has conceived music videos for various artists
including Major Lazer, Nicki Minaj, OrelSan and Stromae.
These projects got him shortlisted at the Cannes YDA
and the Shots Awards.
A close collaborator of Wes Anderson, Scali has
contributed as 2nd Unit Director on his last films,
including The Grand Budapest Hotel, Asteroid City and
the latest, The Phoenician Scheme.
His advertising work - which includes the official film for
the Paris 2024 Olympic Games - navigates between
genres, building a body of work always marked by
meticulous art direction.
In parallel, he is developing his own narrative projects.
His last short, Canyon, was both a Festival de
Clermont-Ferrand and Sitges Film Festival nominee, two
of the world’s most prestigious short films events.
It has
received many awards including the Silver Mélies for Best
Short at Festival Européen du Film Fantastique de
Strasbourg, leading to the support of the CNC - The
French National Cinema Committee - for Rubis, his
upcoming feature film debut.
